Awe50me Interviews ERIC FOENANDER (Bedsty)

Here’s an excerpt of Awe50me.com’s interview with Bedsty’s own, Eric Foenander…

ERIC FOENANDER – SINGAPORE

NAME: Eric Foenander aka TheTownJeweller aka Efoe aka Easy E

AGE: 27

WHERE YOU FROM: Born and bred in Singapore til 14, moved to Adelaide, South Australia, til 24, and now based here.

WHAT YOU DO: Illustrator/ Art Director for Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, and leading creative for Bedsty.

THE WAY YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE: I live life easy, breezy and beautiful. Covergirl.

DOING IT?
I just do what I do best – draw and create stuff. Everyone around me gives me inspiration, ideas and support whenever I ask for it, and I’m thankful for that. As far as being successful, there’s still alot more to be done.

YOUR PEOPLE?
As mentioned above, the friends and peers around me are gorgeous when it comes to providing me with help and inspiration to do what I need to do. I try and get inspiration not from just people I meet and/or observe, but anything else I can draw it from.

DESCRIBE YOUR GENERATION?
My generation? A bunch of bloody superstars in their own rights.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO SHAKE IT UP?
I just hope that whatever I put out gets people talking and that it might serve THEM as inspiration too.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS?
I don’t really have a process. Apart from work, where there is an actual process and structure laid out to be followed, I usually just work at something til something eventuates or I might even just dream of it. The solution could come immediately as soon as I’m presented with the problem, or it could materialise over countless nights chatting with people and getting their two cents worth. I don’t usually worry, what I need will come to me when it needs to.

TURN US ON TO SOMETHING?
If you haven’t already, check James Jean out. His stuff has been jaw dropping to me ever since I got on to him. And after I met him, and sketched his portrait, I’ve been revelling in his prowess ever since. Also, check my boys’ stuff out. Sharul and Dawsey. Two everyday superstars just hangin’ around and chillin’.

CREATIVE EXPERIENCES?
A successful creative experience should be a fun one. Collaborative if more than one individual is involved. It shouldn’t be contentious and ego driven. IT’S GOTTA BE FUN DAMMIT
